Jim Kohlberg, Chairman

Jim co-founded Kohlberg & Company, a leading middle-market private equity firm, which has organized six private equity funds. His firm has completed nearly 100 investments in undervalued companies. Jim is an active venture capital investor in internet media, entertainment and alternative energy. His investments include ClearEdge Power, a fuel cell company, where he serves as chairman, Essential Entertainment, a film finance and foreign sales company where he is also chairman, and Current TV, an Emmy-winning interactive content cable company. Jim is also active in educational philanthropy through his foundation and is on the board of EcoAmerica, an environmental charity.

Gregory Shove, Founder and CEO

Prior to launching Halogen Guides, Greg was an active private and public company investor, and currently serves on the board of Red Envelope. From 1996 to 2000, Greg was an executive at America Online, eventually serving as Vice President of Sales at America Online, overseeing more than $600 million in annual revenue. Greg joined AOL after the acquisition of 2Market, an interactive shopping startup he co-founded. Greg is a Sloan Fellow from Stanford University's Graduate School of Business and holds a B.A. in Economics from the University of Western Ontario.

Jamie Cheng, Senior VP and Chief Analyst

In addition to his quarterly analyst reports, Jamie oversees operations and finance at Halogen Guides. Before co-founding the company, he served on the senior management team at RedEnvelope, a web and catalog retailer. Jamie started as the first employee at RedEnvelope and helped grow revenues from $0 to $110 million over an eight-year period, culminating in an initial public offering in 2003. He was formerly a management consultant at Prophet Brand Strategy. Jamie earned dual MBAs from the University of California at Berkeley and Columbia University, and a B.S. from U.C. Berkeley's Haas School of Business.
